BUILT ON FAITH, SACRIFICE AND COMMUNITY
For nearly a century, Catholics in Westmead have gathered for Mass wherever they could – the Westmead Progress Hall (1928), in people’s homes and St Vincent’s Boys’ Home chapel – well before the parish was formally founded in 1951.
In 1954, our current church was opened. It was made possible by the determination of ordinary parishioners who raised funds in every way possible – even going door to door. The current building always was intended to be a temporary church.
Today, after years of prayer, planning and work, a new, permanent church is becoming a reality! And with it comes a special opportunity for our parish family to help complete the church debt – free, as has been promised.
TWO WAYS TO GIVE
Sponsor a Pew
We’ve saved you a seat… put your name on it!
A pew is more than a seat – it’s a lasting part of the church where families will pray, celebrate sacraments, and draw closer to God. By sponsoring a pew, you can make a legacy gift for the honour and glory of God, helping to ensure every parishioner has a place in our new church.

ACKNOWLEDGING YOUR LEGACY GIFT
Honouring those who came before us
This appeal is also a chance to honour the faith of those who came before us. Earlier generations built this parish with sacrifice and love; now we have the privilege of continuing that story.
COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUES
As benefactors of Sacred Heart Westmead, pew sponsors may be acknowledged (where appropriate). If you wish, a commemorative plaque can be placed on both ends of a donated whole pew, or on one end of a donated half pew.
We will also continue to honour heritage donors who gifted the original pews, by preserving their recognition with a new plaque bearing their name. Where applicable, some renovated pews may carry two plaques in dual recognition of the original and new donors.
A SHARED PROMISE AND A SHARED ACHIEVEMENT
This new church will belong to all of us. Every gift helps us complete the project without debt, strengthens our parish for the future, and honours the faith and sacrifice of those who built our community before us.
Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your commitment to our parish.
